Our passion is to create a comfortable, stylish and efficiently run hotel – we want to be the best we can! Over the years this has meant we have received a number of awards in recognition of our quest for high standards. These awards place us in the top rated and best hotels in the Lake District. Listed here are some of these awards:

Condé Nast Johansen’s Most Excellent Country House Hotel 2007
All Johansen’s Recommended Hotels are inspected yearly and have to meet exacting standards – we were delighted to scoop the top Country House award.
AA 4 Red Stars – the AA selects the best hotels in each category and awards red stars for excellence. This is now called “Inspector’s Choice” (formerly AA’s Top 200 Hotels)
Alastair Sawday's Special places to stay - We’re incredibly proud to have been included in Alastair Sawdays Special Places the Stay guide since Autumn 2007.
We are recommended by the Good Hotel Guide which is fantastic as hotels cannot buy an entry, they are selected to appear in the guide.
Ypma's Hip Hotels Guide - We are delighted to be included in the latest HIP Hotel guide – this is a collection of Herbert Ypma’s highly individual hotels and it’s a real honour to be included in this prestigious guide.
Condé Nast Traveller Gold List – Best Location Section. The magazine viewed as a traveller’s bible selects a handful of hotels each year from around the world that have the best rooms, leisure facilities, food, ambience/design, service and location. The ultimate guide to the finest establishments in the world: hotels that set the Condé Nast Traveller Gold Standard. We were thrilled to be included in the prestigious group.
