Are we one of the Best Hotels in the Lake District?
Our aim is to be the best unstuffy hotel in the Lake District, if not the world! Prior to departure we leave a comment sheet in every room to see how we are living up to that aim – here are some of the recent comments:
“Our main reason for coming was simply because it is Linthwaite! We will be back for our 5th visit”.
“We arrived in the worst wet weather only to find a haven of warmth, peace and friendliness. The fires welcomed us into the cosy, relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The food was amazing, we tried the tasting menu along with the wine pairings. To top it all, I read that you have fly fishing in the grounds”.
“We really enjoyed our stay at the Linthwaite. Thank you! My parents and I are visiting the UK for a week from Hong Kong (I used to study here so I wanted to show them around the country) – did my research on TripAdvisor and other sites. Your hotel has the most consistent and positive reviews – and I cannot agree more! The place is in fact more beautiful than the photos. Love the attentive service from your reception to restaurant staff. The small details around the hotel e.g. rainboots, heated mirrors, all are so heartfelt warming and impressive. Special mention to the chips that come with the burger (terrace menu) – quite possibly one of the best I’ve had! Definitely want to come back again (when the weather is nicer ideally). Thank you again for providing such a nice experience”.
“Wow! What can we say. The service was exceptional by all members of staff who went about their work in a most professional, calm and courteous manner. Our daughter chose this hotel for its highly recommended food and location and her choice met all her expectations and more”.
“The staff are excellent – professional, efficient, hardworking and yet helpful at all times. The food is second to none – imaginative dishes, expertly prepared and served. The hotel grounds really are lovely and relaxing”.
“Thank you very much for a wonderful stay and memorable experience of the Lake District. We would like to say thank you to the staff for an attentive and speedy service and above all the desire to make us feel at home. We would certainly like to repeat this experience in the future and wpass the recommendations onto our friends”.
“We come back again and again for the very relaxing atmosphere, impeccably trained staff who are all very helpful and friendly. The wonderfully tasty and beautifully plated dinners. The welcoming fire in the entrance make it very homely and unstuffy. What’s not to love”.
“Once again we have had a very relaxing 3 days here. We like being referred to by name instead of a room number”.
“The staff are amazing and nothing was too much trouble, they were so polite and if asked anything acted on it immediately with calmness like I said ‘of course’!”
“Lovely, great hotel, rooms are excellent. The staff are warm, polite and friendly, they work tirelessly. I have never been so well looked after”.
“A rare, friendly, discreet and well-organised service from waiters and other staff. Not stuffy. Take a genuine interest in us and how we are enjoying ourselves. Superb food. Every dish a great combination of flavour, textures, colours and sometimes even temperatures. Wonderful location (we explored the grounds more this time). Tastefully designed rooms and clean not shabby”.
“Most liked: at the end of a busy day having the first glass of wine in the lovely conservatory, sitting on the sofa, facing into the sitting room and unwinding. Every single meal was a delight, each plate like a painting and delicious”.
“This is our 3rd visit since September last year and we are back in December – because we both like everything – the whole feeling of calming and relaxing. Not surprised The Sunday Times included you in the best 100 hotels – yet another well deserved award”.
“We have lost count of how many times we have stayed here over the years, always at least twice a year. We know we can always rely on your consistently good standards in hospitality”.
“Love your chef’s delicious fare, we mostly ate in the terrace but your staff are very accommodating on menu options – risotto was amazing! Loved room 21, great views. Love the attention to detail, the smaller cups for coffee with nespresso machine, the black and white photos – the glass bottles for milk and water. Lovely cosy bar area for pre-dinner drinks”.
