Notes for fishermen:
Perhaps the first thought to strike any fortunate angler who finds himself putting up a fly rod on the banks of Linthwaite Tarn is that here is a little taste of paradise. The achingly lovely view down from the tarn, through the woodlands and across Windermere to the hills beyond the water itself, surrounded by graceful trees and lush vegetation, the complete peace that surrounds the water, the entire absence of traffic noise but the occasional plopping of lazily rising trout. So it does not matter to any sane angler that the trout at Linthwaite House Hotel are not especially enormous or jostling for your fly like fish in a stew-pond. Rather are the Linthwaite fish just big enough to provide you with all the sport you should ever want in such a wondrous place.
If you would like to try your hand at fly-fishing, then Linthwaite's tarn in the grounds is ideal. We can arrange one-to-one tuition for novice anglers (and all fishing tackle). Featured on Countryside Hour BBC2 with John Bailey (of 'Tales from a Riverbank' fame).
WADAA (Windermere and Ambleside Angling Assoc) has been granted Sport England's presigious Clubmark Award, which makes the Club one of only five UK angling clubs to have gained this status and reflects their achievements in modernising the Club, and, in particular, for providing a safe and structured entry for juniors into the sport.
WADAA have recently taken on some new waters, which will be available for Linthwaite's guests also. Further information can be found on www.lakedistrictfishing.net »
