Lake District local events 2010
Throughout the year there are countless events taking place, many of which are totally unique to Cumbria and the Lake District, such as the annual World Championship Gurning Competition at the Egremont Crab Fair (which apparently dates back to 1266).

This spectacular event has now reached it's 10th successful year, and it seems to get bigger and better every time. The event is taking place on the 24th and 25th July this year, and we welcome you to join us on our terrace to view the wonderful aerial displays from the comfort of our grounds.
August 2010
Cartmel Races - www.cartmelraces.com
Just a few miles out of Windermere, you will find Cartmel Racecourse. The beautiful village (famous for it's sticky toffee pudding!) plays host to a brilliant weekend of racing. The next races are due to take place on the bank holiday weekend of August, 26th, 28th and 30th, an event not to be missed.
