Linthwaite is a truly romantic setting for a restaurant - with candlelit tables it is informal and unstuffy, yet discreet and professional. Dinner is available from 7.00 pm with last orders at 9.00 pm. There isn't a strict dress code but smart casual is a good guide. Before dinner enjoy an aperitif in the lounge or conservatory and enjoy the breathtaking views over Lake Windermere and the Lake District fells, before dining in one of the Lake District's most romantic award-winning restaurants. There is an excellent daily changing table d'hôte menu, comprising four courses. Enjoy nibbles before dinner with pre-dinner drinks, and after dinner cafetière coffee with petit fours. Four course dinner and canapés - £52.00 (tax and service included) coffee and petit fours £3.95. If you are staying with us and you can't manage a full dinner we are flexible and can offer a simple a la carte. You could also have dessert and coffee after you return from an evening out.

Exudes a dusty apricot scent, full of lively concentrated fruit flavour with a long, luscious finish. Making it a very individual and unusual style of wine, in a nutshell a true star in its class.

Giovanni Allegrini Recioto della Valpolicella Classico 2005, Valpolicella, Veneto, Italy

This rare fabulous dessert wine is made from grapes that have been dried for up to 5 months prior to pressing, then allowed to mature for 24 months in French oak. This wine is sweet yet has an incredibly rich and long balanced flavour, certainly a wine to meditate over at the end of your meal, expensive but worth it!!

Muscat Beaumes de Venise 2007, France

Luscious, full, fruity dessert white from the Rhone made from a black-skinned variety of Muscat that brings added bouquet.

Colosia, Pedro Ximenez

An amazing smell of treacle and an intense flavour of raisins and molasses – this is absolutely fabulous, especially with chocolate or vanilla ice cream!

Named after the chef, John Tovey, this is a modern semi-soft, naturally mould ripened, continental style goat's cheese with plenty of flavour.

Hand-made following a 17th century recipe that was discovered by a couple called Gray (Yarg is Gray spelt backwards!), this modern pasteurised cow's milk cheese has a smooth paste and a mild, slightly mushroomy flavour. (Vegetarian rennet)

Blacksticks Blue (Lancashire)

A modern soft blue pastureised cow's milk cheese with creamy texture and buttery tang (Vegetarian rennet)

All cheeses are accompanied by blue poppy seed and celery salt biscuits, raisin loaf, red onion marmalade and green apple chutney.

Adjourn to the lounge, bar or conservatory where you can finish off the meal with a Cafetière of freshly brewed coffee, espresso or cappuccino all served with home made petit fours. Enjoy the moonlight reflecting on Lake Windermere or the sun setting over the Lake District fells - depending on the time of year!
