Christmas is here and the geese are getting fat. Or at least I am. It’s the time of year when exercise outside is more difficult to come by and exercise indoors in the form of eating, isn’t. We just had our staff pre Christmas lunch where staff enjoy a sit down slap up meal served by the managers. Actually our staff lunch is mainly a Star of the Year event. The staff vote, anonymously, and the winners get an Oscar like statuette with a, you guessed it, star on the top. This year there were two joint winners, Andrew, a tall young Chef, and Kamil, one of our valuable kitchen hands.
Chef and his team did a fabulous turkey meal with honeyed parsnips, roast potatoes, and lashings of bread sauce. I mustn’t forget to mention the sausages wrapped in bacon and the faggot, all of which added up to a more than tasty morsel. Pudding was one of Chef’s famous crumbles, not only with ice ream but also custard. The real sort of course.
The staff work really hard all year, and then some more over Christmas and New Year. So this is a thank you from us to them, so they can at least feel, while they make sure everyone else is having a good time, they have had an hour or two just for themselves. Everyone needs to be pampered.
It doesn’t stop there though, they all got a large box of chocolates and a bottle of wine or beer.
A very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, to all our wonderful staff and guests.Back
