Lake district restaurant - our wine list
Every year new wines replace old, and everything seems to taste better all the time. It gets confusing though. The Aussies are now in France producing their home style of wine, and in California many wineries are owned and run by the French... anyway, we continue to look for new wines, and we have eclectic range of almost one hundred wines from all over the world including many Chilean, New Zealand and Australian besides a good selection of classic Clarets and Burgundies - arranged by taste rather than by country. Our wine list is for drinking and many wines have been chosen to match the type of food we serve. Below is a selection from our wine list:champagne

Château Gazin, Pomerol
Ancien Domaine des Templiers, Bordeaux
Superbly situated vineyard adjacent to Pétrus and just down the road from l’Evangile and La Conseillante. Medium to full bodied with power and abundant depth. Fairly high tannins. Dense ruby purple colour. 1989
Fleur de Gay, Pomerol
Château La Croix de Gay, Bordeaux
Produced from a tiny parcel of very old vines, La Fleur de Gay correspondingly shows deep concentration and pure, complex fruit. The '95 is medium bodied and has beautifully integrated wood flavours stemming from 100% new oak casks. The use of 100% new oak gives this wine real opulence. The nose displays aromas of minerals, pain grillé, a touch of prunes, and gobs of black cherries and cassis intertwined with vanilla from new oak casks. This medium bodied wine exhibits fennel-like blackcurrant flavours, high tannin, and impressive purity, depth, and length. 1995
Château Montrose
St. Estephe, Bordeaux
Since 1989, this property has consistently produced the finest wine in St. Estephe, with the 89 vintage only equalled by the 2000 which is still too young to compare. This wine is full-bodied, unctuously textured, fleshy and pure with high but sweet tannin levels. This wine offers a terrific nose of melted liquorice, cassis, and blackberries with a smokey finish. 1989
Vieux Château Certan, Pomerol
Vieux Château Certan, Bordeaux
Vieux-Chateau-Certan is owned by the Thienpont Family and is without doubt one of the most famous names in Pomerol. The huge bouquet of cassis, herbs, and new oak is followed by a wine that is medium-bodied, with deep, black cherry flavours wrapped intelligently in toasty oak. Extracted, deep, yet impeccably balanced maturity. One of their best Vintages to date!!! 1998
Half bottles are also available.
