Lake District Golf Breaks

I'm a member of Windermere Golf Club (one mile up the road), and always happy to play with guests looking for a game. (Gets me out of the hotel!) Windermere is highly recommended and if the golf is bad the views compensate, and it's well worth non-players accompanying the players. Nice and friendly clubhouse.

Ulverston (southwest) is rated the best (30 minutes away), and Silloth in N.W. Cumbria is of championship course standard. Locally there is also Kendal (8 miles east - exposed and hilly), Keswick in the north (only 9 holes and very seasonal) and two courses at Grange-over-Sands. Clubs can be hired at most of these courses. Booking essential. For non-handicappers, pay at Beckside on the Crook Road (3 miles) or Carrus Green, Burneside Road, Kendal.

There's a practice pitching hole (wedge!) at Linthwaite House, plus a bumpy putting green for non-serious putters.

Linthwaite Country House Hotel overlooks Lake Windermere and is ideally situated whether it be for a golfing holiday or short break and offers perfect relaxing surroundings for any non-golfers.
